Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Introduction
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) has become an increasingly common condition and is often associated with depression. In terms of clinical definition it remains an enigma, however, sustained CFS leads to desperation and is emotionally draining.
Many complementary practitioners believe that poor air quality can be an important contributing factor, both in polluted cities and in offices with air conditioning. It is becoming clear that air deprived of its normal surplus of negative ions has a tiring effect on those who breathe it. Furthermore, many of our modern domestic conveniences might have been designed deliberately to de-ionise air. These include man-made fibres, air fresheners, fan heaters, strip lighting and video screens. Installation of ionisers in offices, domestic premises and cars frequently results in relief of symptoms.

Before you start
The gut’s ability to absorb nutrients, whether it is from food or from the food state supplements, will be significantly improved if the body has first been cleansed of harmful toxins, and the intestinal tract replenished with healthy flora.

It is of particular benefit in today’s environment with our increased exposure to harmful toxins from so many sources. It is our recommendation to pre-empt any dietary/nutritional program with a cleanse, and to repeat it twice per year.

To this extent we recommend that before you start on your required formula you undertake our Detox Formula which involves 3 products that provide a very effective cleanse program that will enhance your health and wellbeing.

Additional Comment

It is important that attention is paid to the balance between acid-forming and alkali-forming foods. The optimum balance is around 60% alkali-forming to acid-forming. See Acid Forming and Alkali Forming guidelines.

Fatigue can be associated with iron deficiency.

Avoid too much carbohydrate during the day, saving it for the evening meal.

Similar nutritional observations apply here as in M.E., and receive support from several studies published in American medical literature. In particular, requirements for Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin C vary widely according to personal circumstances such as stress and pollutant exposure.
